Patrons may have mistaken Highland Falls Library for a Korean restaurant this past Saturday, July 13, 2024. We had 20 participants who enjoyed “A Taste of Korea” Cooking Class presented by the Korean Spirit & Culture Promotion Project (a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of Korean history and culture). Younhee Shin, who taught the Lotus Flower Lantern Workshop in April, gave a demonstration of how to prepare Korean dishes, emphasizing the health benefits of the ingredients used. A video, which included the history of Bangjja bronzeware, and an overview of Korea’s history and culture, was shown. Participants received a handout of recipes and Korean food information. Everyone also enjoyed a full Korean meal served in Bangjja bronzeware. Thank you to Younhee and her wonderful helpers from KSCPP for sharing fascinating facts about Korea’s culture and history in addition to Korean cooking. Everyone more than enjoyed the informative presentation and the delicious Korean meal.
